Last Photo Turn in #8 :(

I cannot believe that this is the last photo turn in. :( its sad that the class is coming to an end. But for this last week I chose still life. I was in Florida over winter break and I was sitting in my sisters apartment laniae (which is like a closed in porch, to keep the bugs out) and I had my camera with me that I had just gotten for Christmas and I was reading a Teen Vogue magazine and I just got inspired :).

Photo Turn in #7

For this week, i did architecture. I went on an adventure to take pictures with Arnie and we went to the gym. We didn't have any luck but when I saw the covers to the food stand and it looked really cool. I went right up to it with a DSLR and put on a flash and this was the result. I was really happy with it because the actual metal was really light but I like the effect the flash had on it.
ISO 400
Fstop 4.6
Enjoy!!

Dictionary Assignment!

This week, we chose a word in the dictionary and made a photo presentation of it. Being an avid hockey fan, I chose the word Ice Hockey. I composited pictures of Steve Yzerman, another player and a hockey rink. We had to use our GIMP skills to composite several pictures to make a photo definition. I liked doing this assignment, it was a lot of fun but choosing a word was hard :). I didn't include the part of speech or how to say the word, so going back and making it so that you could see it and adding a whole new text box because mine would open my original text box.. was super stressful but it all worked out in the end. Hope you enjoy!!

Photo Turn in #6

For this week, I chose to take pictures of my horse Coyote. I was at the barn and was planning on getting pictures of my friend jumping her horse but in the indoor arena, the lighting was terrible. So after I had ridden my horse, I put him back in the paddock and all he wanted to do was play. It was tough to get a shot were he was actually looking at me and not staring into space. This is what I got where he was actually looking :).

Panoramic Pics!

For this assignment, we took 3 pictures and made them one with GIMP. We had to move one on top of the other to make the objects they have in common line up or overlap each other. It was fun to make all the lines be even and making the colors right on each picture was somewhat stressful. Enjoy.

Photo Turn In

For this week, my friend turned 15! I went to her birthday party and I thought that the way she cut into the cake (it was heart shaped. Her birthday is on Valentines Day :)) was really cool. She had a confetti cake and it was very colorful. Her birthday is an Event so thats the category I chose. We went rollerskating as well and I got some good pictures but there was so much motion it made them blurry. When we went back to her house we had cake and this is where i got the picture. I really like the colors and how much they popped. ISO 200-- Shutter 2.8. Enjoy!!

Portrait Assignments

For this assignment, we took portraits of people in our class. We had to use window lighting reflecting off a piece of paper and one in the studio with studio lighting. I used Arnie for studio lighting and Megan for window. We used GIMP so put the two together. Enjoy!

Macro Assignment

For this weeks assignment, I chose the catagory of Macro. I was outside unsuccessfully taking pictures of a tree branch that had freshly fallen raindrops on it. I was looking around when I saw the ice patch on the ground. So I got closer and it looked really good with the rocks surrounding it. I shot at an ISO of 160 and shutter of 2.8. Enjoy!

Cafetiria

For this assignment we had to use pictures to change the context of our school using GIMP.

Friday, January 22, 2010

For this photo turn in, I chose the catagory of black and white. This is my friend Whit playing his guitar at Millpond Park. I had the idea of this and thought it would be a really creative idea. He was at first on the bridge but I moved him to the tree because it was an oddly shaped tree and it created and almost fantasy-like tree, which was a very nice addition to my picture. I wanted to use my friends and I took them to Millpond to get a cool background change. I changed the colors and it really made the tree texture pop and made my picture look really cool. I did not use a flash, and my shutter speed was 2.8 and my aperture was 160. It was taken outside, so I used outside settings. Hope you enjoy!!

Gimp Assignment 2

For the second Gimp assignment, we took a picture of a car at the car show and edited it to look like an edited version of it. We made the front windshield tinted and the background black. We took out all of the bad glares on the car and the distracting background "noise". It was fun learning about all of the cool things Gimp can do to your photo.

Nature Picture... First turn in!

For this weeks assignment, i chose the catagory of nature. Over winter break, my parents and I went to Florida to see my sister and her husband. They took us to a very cool nature reserve where I learned so much about all different types of animals. It was a cool expireance. For this picture specifically, I was standing on a bridge at one of the stops. When I turned around, I saw this view and I thought, "Wow, great depth of field.". I could decide for a picture for this catagory. Once I enhanced the colors, the picture really popped. For this picture, I used aperture of 6.5 and a shutter speed of 100, no flash. Hope you enjoy!

Gimp Assignment 1

In this assignment, we took a picture of someone (I used myself) and we had to but them in a "pop art effect" where we took the picture four times and made each a different.
